barely average . blog

A journal mostly about advertising, design and typography.

Finally

Much like my foray into web design seven years ago, this blog came into existence because I figured that, as a bit of a techie, I should have one! Back then, I was very “in to” the Internet, computers and all things electronic and figured that if I didn’t have a web site, then the whole geek gig was a sham. So, I built something (horrid) using Frontpage 98 and felt legitimate again!

TBH, I’ve been aching to have a blog for a couple of years now, but since I’m more of a thinker than a doer, I never really did anything about it! It’s always easier to sit there and have thoughts, but much harder to form a sequence of sentences that have the right clarity and structure required to make sense to others — too much work, basically.

Why now? I’ve been a freelance web/graphic designer for nearly a decade, but the last year had me working as Creative Director in two successive advertising agencies (more on this latter). I resigned from the latter one in January and found that I now have Idle Time on my hands in between managing the kids, watching downloaded TV and trying to restart my own work.

I really don’t have a purpose in mind for what “Idle Time” is meant to cover. It’ll probably cover things that piss me off, more than anything else, because I often wonder if I’m the only one who’s getting pissed off by… (whatever). At least this way, someone might post a “Yeah, me too.” comment.
